Christmas spirit is running high in North Vancouver’s Edgemont Village again this year thanks to some crafty students and the local community association.
On Dec. 5 the Edgemont Community Association held its second annual Christmas tree event, placing trees at the four major intersections in the village and inviting elementary students from local schools to do the decorating.
Students from Highlands, Cleveland and Canyon Heights elementaries walked to the village, bringing with them decorations they had been making for the past month. Montroyal Elementary students had a conflict and couldn’t attend, but sent their decorations along to help brighten the village.
“The ingenuity of the students in creating the decorations is a treat to see,” said community association member Susan Hyam. “Their pride and pleasure in seeing their handiwork being admired by passersby is a joy to observe…. The kids are ‘taking possession’ of their village. Santa must be very pleased.”
BlueShore Financial provided a donation to pay for the Christmas trees, while the District of North Vancouver supplied a grant to cover other costs.
The four trees will be on display until Dec. 28.
