People on the North Shore can expect more heavy rain as Environment Canada issued another rainfall warning Tuesday morning.
The rain is expected to start Tuesday afternoon and continue until Wednesday evening, with precipitation ranging between 50 to 90 millimetres as a “vigorous Pacific frontal system” moves over the B.C. coast.
People can expect the rain to intensify Tuesday evening and switch to “moderate showers” Wednesday, moving to light showers later in the evening.
Forecasters are cautioning that travel may become difficult in areas of heavy rain, with water pooling on roads as well as an increased risk of washout, rockfall and landslides. Higher precipitation amounts are possible over the North Shore mountains, Environment Canada said.
Those living in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows and the Howe Sound area will be hit the hardest by the rain, according to Environment Canada.
The District of West Vancouver is advising people to clear leaves from catch basins on streets so rainwater can drain, slow down when driving and stay clear of rivers that are quickly moving.
