Police are investigating after a 49-year-old woman from Vancouver was struck while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Lonsdale Avenue and East Keith Road Thursday afternoon.
The accident around 4:45 p.m. when the woman was struck by a car being driven south on Lonsdale Avenue by a 76-year-old North Shore man.
Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene.
The woman was taken to Lions Gate Hospital in stable condition, said Const. Kelly McIntrye, spokesperson for the North Vancouver RCMP.
McIntyre said it’s important for drivers to be especially cautious at this time of year, because light fades while many pedestrians are still out and about.
“Drivers and pedestrians need to be cautious and take extra care to ensure they are paying attention and visible.”
Free ICBC reflectors are available at the North Vancouver RCMP Detachment’s front counter, McIntrye added.
