NV arts council calls for artists

THE North Vancouver Community Arts Council and CityScape Community Art Space recently announced details of the eighth annual Anonymous Art Show.

THE North Vancouver Community Arts Council and CityScape Community Art Space recently announced details of the eighth annual Anonymous Art Show.

A press release noted this group exhibition and fundraising event will include emerging and established two-dimensional artists working on a predetermined size of unframed back-stapled canvas or wood-cradle panel.

The artists are asked to only sign the back of their canvas as the paintings are displayed anonymously.

The release notes this event is a significant fundraiser for many community programs, projects and events of the arts council.

Each painting is priced at $100. The artist receives 50 per cent and the balance will remain with the arts council. Purchased paintings are immediately taken off the wall and given to the purchaser. In its place a sold tag will reveal the artist's name.

The opening reception and sale is Thursday, Nov. 22, 7 p.m. - 9: 30 p.m., and the sale continues until Saturday, Dec. 15, giving the community an opportunity to purchase original art in time for Christmas.

Blank canvases are now on sale for $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Due to its popularity, the show is now gently juried, notes the release, but the group aims to include as many artists as possible. Artists can submit up to three pieces of artwork.

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 3. Drop off artwork any time prior to the deadline at: CityScape Community Art Space.
