At least one business is impacted after a water main burst near the entrance of a North Vancouver shopping complex Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the City of North Vancouver says the water main break is east of the entrance to the Golf Town/Thrifty Foods shopping complex off of Third Street. The water flooded downhill, swamping areas south of the break. Photos taken from the scene show cars sloshing through a small lake on West First Street.
City crews are currently on scene evaluating impacts. Repairs are expected to be completed today.
Marjorit Orme, acting supervisor at Cora Breakfast and Lunch in the shopping complex, said there is no clean, running water in their restaurant at the moment, and they are using bottled water in the meantime until they close.
"There's no water coming out from the water taps," Orme said. "We don't have any thing ... but we'll give the customers clean water."
Orme said for an hour they didn't serve customers to figure out a plan and out of precaution. They are using bottled water until they close at 3 p.m.
She said it didn't affect them cooking their breakfast food as it doesn't use that much water, but the main issue is cleaning the dishes.
Since the breakfast restaurant chain closes early in the day, they are hoping it will give enough time to have normal operations tomorrow.
West Third Street is currently closed from Donaghy to Hanes Avenues as the city assess damages.
The cause of the water break is currently unknown.
