A North Vancouver tow truck driver has now been charged with striking down a blind senior in a marked crosswalk on Marine Drive.
On March 4, 91-year-old Norgate resident Bob Pearson was crossing Marine Drive at Tatlow Avenue when the driver of a tow truck turning left struck and dragged him two metres.
Pearson spent three months in hospital and had a leg amputated following the collision but has since returned home.
At the time, the driver told investigators he didn’t see Pearson because the sun was in his eyes.
After a months-long investigation by the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, the Crown has now sworn one charge of driving without due care and attention against the driver, Peter Alfred Blankenagel, 64. Blankenagel has a court date in August.
