North Vancouver RCMP are looking for help from the public to identify a hit-and-run suspect after an elderly driver on the Mount Seymour Parkway was dangerously side-swiped, causing her car to jump the median into oncoming traffic.

Police said the incident happened around noon on May 22.

A woman driving westbound in the right lane on Mount Seymour Parkway was approaching the Fern Street overpass when another driver side-swiped her silver Honda Civic, causing it to spin out and jump the median. The vehicle came to rest in the oncoming lanes of the Fern Street overpass.

The elderly woman who was driving the Civic was in shock but uninjured, said police.

Her car, however, was severely damaged and is likely not reparable.

The driver that struck the woman’s car did not stop, and continued driving, according to police.

“We’re asking anyone who was driving on or near the Fern Street overpass around noon on May 22 with dashcam to come forward,” said Const. Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. “The elderly driver is on fixed income and we’re hoping to hold the driver responsible for the accident accountable.”

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who knows the identity of the suspect vehicle to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file #24-9912.
