North Vancouver MP Jonathan Wilkinson will continue to serve as Canada’s minister of energy and natural resources under Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Carney was sworn in as Canada’s 24th Prime Minister Friday and, soon after, named his first cabinet, keeping Wilkinson in the portfolio he’s held since 2021.
Carney said his early focus would be on Canada’s economy in the face of threats from the U.S.-instigated trade war, but also hinted he would be seeking a fresh mandate through an election call.
Burnaby North-Seymour Liberal MP Terry Beech, who was previously Canada’s minister of citizen services, was not included in the new cabinet.
