Debris flushed down during the atmospheric river storm of Oct. 18-20 sits strewn about near several Deep Cove properties. An evacuation order was lifted for one of three homes in Deep Cove after crews completed construction work on Panorama Creek earlier this week.

The District of North Vancouver lifted an evacuation order for one of three Deep Cove homes Friday.

Residents at 2514 Panorama Drive can return to the property. The properties at 5297 and 5313 Indian River Drive remain under the evacuation order.

District crews completed construction work on Panorama Creek earlier this week, reducing the life safety risk.

The evacuation order came into effect last week after concerns of the extent of debris flow in Ostler and Panorama Creeks following the atmospheric river between Oct. 19 to 20, limiting their capacity to “withstand future heavy rainfall events,” the District said in a statement.

Wood debris was falling alongside rocks as big as “pumpkins” and “softballs,” District of North Vancouver Mayor Mike Little said last week.

Neighbourhoods east of Francis Creek accessed from or via Indian River Road and Panorama Drive, north of the 2500 block, in Deep Cove are still under the state of local emergency.

The Oct. 26 evacuation order was issued shortly after the district declared a mandatory evacuation order for six homes on Panorama Drive in Deep Cove due to flooding in the area on Oct. 20. Residents of those properties were able to return Oct. 24.

Residents of the properties affected are eligible to receive emergency support services.
