Homicide investigators vowed to solve the 2012 murder of a North Vancouver woman at a press conference Thursday.
Fatemah (Sara) Norouzy-Pooresfahany was finally identified after being found Aug. 18, 2012 off a footpath in the 2000-block of Curling Road. She was 31 years old.
Evidence suggests she likely met with foul play, according to Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
"IHIT will now move forward with any and all evidence gathering in order to find who is responsible for her murder and bring them to justice," Pound said.
Norouzy-Pooresfahany's identity was confirmed through DNA analysis after her mother alerted North Vancouver RCMP to her missing daughter in September.
Mother and daughter lived together in North Vancouver for several years before returning to their home country of Iran.
Norouzy-Pooresfahany had only minimal contact with her mother after coming back to Canada in December, 2011.
Norouzy-Pooresfahany had no fixed address, but spent time at homeless shelters in both North Vancouver and Burnaby.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448, or, to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
