They probably weren't out to make a political statement.
But three youths who robbed local teens of their fireworks at gunpoint - one while wearing an anonymous Guy Fawkes-style mask - on Halloween night still have a lot of explaining to do.
Police are seeking the public's help to identify three suspects who pulled knives and what appeared to be a gun on a group of teens who were walking on a pathway from Bridgman Avenue to West 15th Street around 10 p.m. Oct. 31.
One of the youths - who all appeared to be 17 to 20 years old - was wearing an Anonymous/Guy Fawkes mask and pointed what appeared to be a black hand gun while demanding the teens hand over their fireworks. The other two youths had hoods on and bandanas covering their faces. Each of them threatened the teens with a knife.
Cpl. Richard De Jong said police don't know if the gun was real or fake. Regardless, he said, the actions of the trio still amount to "the threat of violence with a weapon."
De Jong said after the teens handed over their fireworks, the suspects walked south towards West 15th Street.
Investigation has revealed the three suspects were inside McDonald's Restaurant at Marine Dive and Pemberton Avenue prior to the robbery. See this story at nsnewws.com for images of video surveillance from inside the restaurant.
They are also hoping to speak with a family who walked through the pathway prior to the robbery.
