North Van gin joint hosting two Vancouver Cocktail Week events

North Vancouver’s Copperpenny Distilling Co. will explore Martini lore March 2 and wrap up the week with the History of the Hangover March 9

Vodka? Gin? Shaken? Stirred? Classic? Dirty?

The noble Martini will be the topic of discussion at an event at North Vancouver’s Copperpenny Distilling Co. this Sunday. The seminar diving into James Bond’s favourite drink is part of Vancouver Cocktail Week, running March 2-9 in ballrooms, gin joints and speakeasies across the city.

Sunday’s event in North Vancouver will feature “cocktailians” Tarquin Melnyk and Robyn Gray guiding drinking in the history of the Martini while sampling four beverages as well as a tasty snack. The event will run 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Copperpenny.

Patrons will also have a chance to wrap up their week with another event at Copperpenny March 9, a fitting finish looking into the History of the Hangover. The seminar will look into how alcohol affects the body as well as ways to guard yourself against those after-morning blues and tips for how to perk back up after a night out.

The evening’s festivities come with “three cocktails, a glass of water and a Tylenol.” The History of the Hangover will run from 4 top 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9 at Copperpenny.
