Almost three weeks after a North Vancouver senior didn't return from a walk in Lower Lonsdale, the 74-year-old man is still missing and police are appealing to the public for information.
The last confirmed sighting of George Michas, 74, was on Monday, July 25 at 10 a.m., according to police. He was walking near West First Street at Chesterfield Avenue.
Michas, who has medical conditions that make him vulnerable, often walks to parks in the Lower Lonsdale area, said Cpl. Melissa Jongema, North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson. But the senior has also been known to take longer walks on the North Shore, making it challenging to pin down possible locations.
Jongema said Michas left his cell phone at home when he went out July 25.
“This is out of character for Mr. Michas and his neighbours and loved ones and the police are all concerned,” she added.
Jongema said she had no information to indicate that Michas was depressed or dealing with any mental health crisis.
Michas is described as a white male of average height. He weighs about 170 pounds and has short salt-and-pepper grey hair and facial hair.
He was last seen wearing a green oversized t-shirt, black shorts, and possibly blue running shoes.

More than two weeks after a North Vancouver senior failed to return home from walk, North Vancouver RCMP are renewing their plea for tips from the public.
The last confirmed sighting of George Michas, 74, was on Monday, July 25 at 10 a.m. He was walking near West First Street at Chesterfield Avenue.
Since then, investigators have followed up on tips from the public and stepped up patrols in areas he’s known to attend, but there has been no new leads in 15 days.
Michas is considered to be at high risk due to medical conditions that make him vulnerable.
“This is out of character for Mr. Michas and his neighbours and loved ones and the police are all concerned,” said Cpl. Melissa Jongema, North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson. “Please call 911 if you see George Michas.”
Jongema said it would be helpful if members of the public kept an eye out for anyone matching Michas’s description, particularly when walking in parks.

North Vancouver RCMP are seeking the public’s help in finding a senior reported missing.
George Michas, 74, is considered to be at high risk due to medical conditions that make him vulnerable.
The last confirmed sighting was on Monday (July 25) at 10 a.m. when he was walking near West First Street and Chesterfield Avenue.
Police alerted the public to his disappearance on Wednesday evening.
Michas is described as a white male of average height. He weighs about 170 pounds and has short salt-and-pepper grey hair and facial hair.
He was last seen wearing a green oversized t-shirt, black shorts, and possibly blue running shoes.
“Police and family are concerned for the well-being of George Michas and are asking for public assistance in locating him. Anyone who sees George Michas is asked to call 911,” a release from the RCMP states.
