A Vancouver man is facing charges of voyeurism related to a string of incidents in West Vancouver.

Saman Namvar Haghighi Shirazi, 32, was arrested by West Vancouver Police Department officers on May 19 after witnesses came forward to report suspicious behaviour, according to Sgt. Chris Bigland, WVPD spokesperson.

On Aug. 13, the Crown swore three charges of secretly observing or recording for a sexual purpose. Shirazi made his first court appearance that day.

Police are not releasing any specifics of the allegations, apart from the fact that the incidents did happen in a public place.

Documents filed in North Vancouver Provincial Court, however, specify that Shirazi is prohibited from going to Park Royal North, Park Royal South and Park Royal Village while he is on bail.

He also must not use any recording device or camera while in a public space.

Court documents specify that there are three separate victims in the allegation.

While the matter is before the courts, Bigland said police will not be releasing any further information but he said anyone concerned about acts of voyeurism taking place should call 911.

“Everyone deserves to enjoy common spaces with their dignity preserved. We take reports like this one very seriously and respond quickly and with as many resources as we can get to stop this behaviour. If you see something suspicious, please call us,” he said.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Shirazi is due back in court in September.
