ON the first day of summer (and one of the only warm sunny days of June 2012) local meteorologists were predicting grey, damp weather for the rest of the month. Meanwhile, eastern Canada was already sweltering under a heat wave, with temperatures soaring above 30C. Statistically speaking, summer-like weather doesn't arrive until mid-July on the South Coast of B.C., but even so, it can be hard not to grumble a little. Knowing what you know about the West Coast's climate, should we be expecting better weather in June?

ANGIE BROWN NORTH VANCOUVER

"It should be. I moved out here five years ago and the first two summers were unreal. In April, I had shorts on."

PAUL DAYNES NORTH VANCOUVER

"If you don't like it, you shouldn't worry, because it's always going to change. It's unpredictable. There's El Nino, or El Nino's wife or El Nino's mother-in-law.

NICOLE POIRIER NORTH VANCOUVER

"I would like to see better weather in June. Yes, we should be expecting better."

STEVEN HASLEMORE VANCOUVER

"I'm not too sure. The first years I was here it was great. The last two years were rubbish."

MAGDA GARBACZ PORT COQUITLAM

"I don't know. I hate the weather here. June's always been a crappy month. I can't remember the last time it was nice all of June."
