Police say it was a bogus threat that led to the evacuation of North Vancouver’s Lonsdale Quay market on Monday (Aug. 22).
According to the RCMP, staff at the Quay received an “unconfirmed” threat to public safety around 10:30 a.m.
North Vancouver RCMP members stepped up patrols around the market and brought in their dog section to do a thorough search of the site. “Out of an abundance of caution,” they opted to evacuate the building.
By 2 p.m., police had checked over the building and reopened it to the public.
The RCMP is not releasing any details about the nature of the threat but they have begun a criminal investigation into the person who made it.
