A picture of what the new Handsworth Secondary school will look like is starting to emerge.

Design renderings of the new school have been posted on the District of North Vancouver’s website as part of the public process the North Vancouver school district must go through before construction can begin.

The province announced in January it would put up $62.3 million to fully replace the 57-year-old seismically unsafe existing school structure at the site, 1044 Edgewood Rd.

The new school will be a three-storey, 13,112-square-metre structure with capacity for 1,400 students, as well as 120 parking spots, and 98 bicycle stalls.

The design is by KMBR Architects.

The school district will hold a public information meeting about the project on Jan. 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Handsworth gym.
