Planning to drive between the North Shore and downtown tonight?

Drivers are warned that road work will restrict vehicle traffic to single-lane alternating travel on the Lions Gate Bridge between 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 and 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Drivers are advised to expect delays to and from Stanley Park and the North Shore, and to consider using the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing or transit as alternatives.

The Lions Gate Bridge lanes are being closed to complete repaving of the bridge's north approach, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Work on the repaving began in September with a series of previous overnight bridge lane closures.

At least one sidewalk will remain open during construction to provide a crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, according to the ministry.

This work completes the scheduled paving of the north approach viaduct which began last month. The road works are part of regular road maintenance to keep the bridge safe and in good working order, according to the ministry.
