Prepare mushy thighs and jelly calves for a dose of lactic acid – the Grouse Grind is opening for the season on Saturday.

Metro Vancouver staffers will unlock the gate at 6:30 a.m. to open a new season on Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.

Metro crews have spent the winter doing rehabilitation work on the trail, which saw less damage from renegade off-season grinders this past winter than it typically sees.

Back this year is the Grind For Kids program, which has raised more than $870,000 for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
