Police have arrested four young men on charges of kidnapping and indignity to a body after a man was found dead in the District of North Vancouver Tuesday.
Investigators have yet to disclose who the victim is or how he died, and they gave no explanation Wednesday as to why they have connected the alleged kidnapping to the homicide.
Members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team were called to the 900-block of Wellington Drive around 3 a.m. Tuesday to investigate the man’s death.
Mounties and members of specialized units and municipal police forces from across the Lower Mainland are all involved in the investigation, said Stephanie Ashton, an IHIT spokeswoman.
Casey Hiscoe, 21, and Tian Zhang, 23, have been charged with kidnapping and indignity to a body in connection to the homicide, Ashton said in a news release. Dyllan Green, 20, and Jacob Gorelik, 18, have been charged with indignity to a body.
A white Bentley covered in a tarp, a black BMW SUV, and a Chevrolet Malibu were all hauled from the crime scene on flatbed trucks after the body was found.
Ashton has previously stated the investigation was “just dealing with vehicles,” rather than the homes on the taped-off residential street. But no explanation of that was given either.
“In an effort to protect the integrity of this investigation, there is limited information available,” Ashton said.
“We want to reassure the public and particularly the residents living near Wellington Avenue that this was a targeted incident.”
A Casey James Hiscoe, born in 1994, has received guilty verdicts for past offences including assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with a sentence or disposition. He has faced other charges in Richmond and Vancouver courts including robbery, aggravated assault and breach of undertaking.
A Tian Yi Zhang, born in 1992, has appeared in court in Port Coquitlam and Vancouver on a range of traffic-related charges.
Jacob Michael Gorelik, born in 1997, and Dyllan James Green, born in 1995, have no prior court appearances on record.
