Fraser Valley Bead Show: The largest bead show in Western Canada is returning this October. Closet Clean: This is the favourite time of year for the volunteers at Treasure Cottage Thrift Stores. According to a written statement, volunteers love to keep busy, but the stores are in dire need of gently used "treasures," including clothing and accessories. The thrift stores are the major source of revenue to support the SOS Children's Village B.C., which provides familybased care service for foster children and foster families. There is also an urgent need for volunteers in the organization's three stores, in Steveston, Kerrisdale and at 121 Lonsdale Ave. in North Vancouver. Drop-off is at the rear of the building. Make way for holiday fashions by clearing out unwanted clothing and accessories and donating them to the Canadian Diabetes Association's Clothesline program. Making a contribution is as simple as calling 1-800-505-5525 and arranging for a free pickup. The program currently picks up donations daily from homes in the North Shore area.
