Sofiabella will host an evening of fun and fashion, 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's Light the Night Walk. Five per cent of all sales will be donated to the Vancouver walk, which takes place Oct. 20 in Stanley Park. The Edgemont Village boutique, which sells age-appropriate clothing and accessories for girls sizes 7-16, will offer a 20 per cent discount on purchases during the fundraising evening. Orquidea boutique is helping to spread the word that October is breast cancer awareness month. Bring in an old bra and the store will hang it in the front window to help increase awareness of the disease. For each person who brings in a bra, Orquidea will donate $5 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Orquidea is also offering a large cosy scarf as a gift with purchase of $100 or more of regular priced merchandise, to Oct. 31. The scarves come in a variety of colours, including the campaign's signature pink and are valued at $50 each. Orquidea is at 1441 Argyle Ave., West Vancouver.

Starry Nights: Join in the festive spirit at Park Royal Shopping Centre on Nov. 16 (north mall), and Nov. 21 (south mall), 7: 30-10: 30 p.m. both evenings in support of Capilano Community Services. Stores will stay open late for ticketed guests to kick off the Christmas shopping season, with "one night only" shopping specials at many retailers (including The Bay), live entertainment, a wine and cheese lounge, prizes, gift-wrapping, and more.
