People stuck on Mount Seymour Drive during rush hour traffic Thursday afternoon were understandably displeased.
A handful of them wrote into the North Shore News, some raising concerns that the truck and trailer blocking the roadway was violating a weight restriction. Others said the truck driver's load hadn't spilled, as first reported, but that the trailer "high-centered."
On Friday, North Vancouver RCMP confirmed that police attended the scene the previous day around 2:30 p.m., after receiving reports that a white Freightliner had bottomed out at the intersection of Mount Seymour Parkway and Plymouth Drive.
"Officers assisted with traffic control until a tow truck arrived and no further action was taken," a spokesperson said.
Staff from the District of North Van also said that section of Mount Seymour Parkway does not have weight restrictions.
"However, our staff are saying the truck 'grounded out' due to its length it could not navigate the slope and camber of the road," said district spokesperson Ryan Schaap.
UPDATE: This article has been updated to include additional information, and to correct an earlier report that said the trucks load had spilled.
