The coast is clear once again in West Vancouver.
Swimmers can head back to Ambleside Beach for a cooling dip in the ocean, after health authorities lifted a recent advisory against swimming at the popular North Shore beach on Thursday.
Testing on Wednesday by Metro Vancouver showed E. coli bacteria levels in the water off Ambleside back down to well within acceptable levels. The highest E. coli count for Ambleside’s four test areas was 30 in 100 millilitres of water.
Vancouver Coastal Health issued the advisory last week after bacteria counts at the beach spiked at 1,178 at one station and 464 at another. Beaches can be closed when E. coli bacteria counts exceed 200 per 100 ml.
This week, none of the beaches in North Vancouver or West Vancouver had samples with counts of over 100.
