Two people are displaced after a fire in a West Vancouver home last week.

West Vancouver Fire and Rescue received reports of a structure fire at 4637 Marine Drive on Friday, April 11 at around 4:40 p.m.

Roughly 22 firefighters were on the scene where they saw heavy smoke and flames inside the house, said assistant fire chief Jeremy Calder. North Vancouver City Fire Department also helped assist with the blaze.

“Crews did a great job of saving what they could of the structure, but it was heavily involved in flame throughout most of the home and up into the roof space,” Calder said.

Residents were on scene during the fire and there were no injuries, he said.

The fire was cleared out around 6:12 p.m., assistant chief of operation Junior Harvey said.

Harvey said it was a “quite involved” fire due to the challenging landscape of the house.

“It’s kind of built on the side of a rock face, it’s quite challenging just even to get to the front door,” Harvey said, adding there was restricted access on both sides of the home.

North Shore Emergency Management attended the scene Friday to help the residents with temporary shelter, he said.

West Vancouver Fire and Rescue are still investigating the cause of the fire.
