This summer is certainly looking a little different than it has in the past. For many, travel plans have changed, and you’re seeking new ways to stay busy and active while sticking closer to home. Even though it’s not what we expected, this summer has given us a golden opportunity to rediscover all the amazing places we have access to, right in our own backyard.
If it’s been a while since you last visited Grouse Mountain, you might be surprised at everything there is to see and do on the mountaintop. Bonus, it’s so close to home.
Did you know you can get up close and learn about one of B.C.’s most majestic creatures, the Grizzly bear? Well, two to be exact. A visit to Grouse Mountain wouldn’t be complete without meeting orphaned Grizzlies, Grinder and Coola at their habitat and learning about how they came to live in the Wildlife Refuge on the mountaintop.
After being cooped up at home for the last months, there’s no better feeling than enjoying some fresh mountain air and taking in some spectacular views. You’ll find loads of both with a visit to Grouse Mountain. The best way to maximize your view is to hop on the Peak Chairlift for a relaxing ride while you look out over the city, ocean and surrounding mountains.
If you think you need to travel far to find thrilling adventures, think again. Grouse Mountain’s Zipline Tours will get your heart pumping as you zoom across the mountaintop, over valleys and between mountain peaks.
Even if you’ve visited recently, you may not have experienced the newest activity to arrive at Grouse Mountain. Mountain Ropes Adventure is a must-do this summer if you’re looking for a challenge. Think swinging from tree to tree and balancing across floating bridges and logs while suspended up to ten metres above the ground. Don’t worry, you’ll be having so much fun, you’ll completely forget about any fear of heights you may have.
One staple of summer that hasn’t changed is the search for the best patio. Outdoor dining is even more popular now as we look to spend more time outdoors. Perched atop Grouse Mountain overlooking the city below, Altitudes Bistro offers one of the Lower Mainland’s best patios. With menu favourites like Mountain Nachos, weekly food and drink specials, live music on Wednesdays, and not to mention, the most breathtaking views, you don’t have to look far for the ultimate summer patio experience.
As we look to get out and enjoy the summer, we must make sure we’re doing so safely. Safety is at the forefront of the Grouse Mountain experience. As part of re-opening the mountain, a number of new protocols and procedures have been put in place to ensure that everyone can safely enjoy their visit.
We’re lucky to live in such an incredible place with access to majestic wildlife, breathtaking views, exciting activities and fantastic dining. All this and more awaits you at Grouse Mountain this summer.
