At least 20 North Shore schools are gearing up for Bike to School Week next week.
The annual event, organized by HUB Cycling, aims to recognize the impacts of biking on students’ mental and physical health, academic performance, and safety in school zones, with kids and their families across Metro Vancouver encouraged to leave their cars at home and walk, bike or roll to school from May 31 to June 4.
This is the first time that Bike to School Week is being held twice during the academic year, according to Hub Cycling. The last Bike to School Week was held in September 2020.
Fourteen schools in North Vancouver and six West Vancouver, Lions Bay and Bowen Island schools are so far registered to take part.
Parents, teachers, and administrators of elementary and middle schools can still register their school until May 28.
More information can be find on the event’s webpage.
