Norgate Community Elementary principal Lisa Upton (left) and Elena Grant (right), owner of Sofiabella tween clothing store in Edgemont Village, launched the 44 Dresses campaign (named for North Vancouver School District 44) earlier this year and ended up collecting more than 400 used dresses, plus shoes and accessories, for Grade 7 students who can’t afford to buy new formal wear for their elementary school farewell celebrations. On Boutique Day, 80 girls from across the North Shore selected party dresses. Fresh Street Market provided snacks for the event and Lush Cosmetics supplied goodie bags.
