Environment Canada releases long weekend forecast for Vancouver

Looking forward to spending some time outside in the sunshine over the long weekend?

You might want to reconsider your plans. 

While the next couple of days look mainly sunny in Vancouver, Environment Canada calls for showers and rain each day of Thanksgiving Day long weekend.  

Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 6, the forecast calls for cloudy skies clearing in the afternoon with increasing cloudiness overnight. A high of 17 degrees is also expected during the day, with a low of 12 at night.

Following this, Wednesday is expected to be mainly sunny with a high of 17 degrees, with a low of 14 degrees overnight. And while Thursday is expected to be cloudy and dry during the day, the forecast calls for a 40 percent chance fo showers at night. 

On Friday, the forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of showers during the day and periods of rain at night. Similarly, Saturday is also expected to see showers during the day and periods of rain at night. 

Sunday's forecast calls for periods of rain during the day, with a 60 percent chance of showers at night. Monday is also expected to see a 60 percent chance of showers.

As La Niña kicks into high gear in the late fall and early winter, the Weather Network predicts Western Canada will have an early to start this year's ski season. 

For the winter season, the weather forecasting channel writes that "La Niña winters tend to be colder and snowier across Western Canada" and it looks like there will be that typical pattern again this winter. For B.C. and a large part of the Prairies, colder than normal temperatures with an abundance of snow for the ski areas are expected.
