Bill has served on many association committees and was first elected to the board of management in 1984 and served as its president in 1988. He is a regular attendee and an involved participant at all the Lower Mainland association BCLS regional group meetings and is supportive of preserving the history of the association and the history of land surveying in West Vancouver.

He received a certificate of recognition for participation in the association in 1999 and also a Meritorious Service Award (now the G.M. Thomson Award) in 2004 for his service to the B.C. land surveying profession.
