This ca. 1950s photograph shows the building that once housed the first high school on the North Shore. North Vancouver High School was founded in 1910 under the leadership of principal Mr. J.H. Keller.
The school's first location was in a rented store in this building at the corner of Lonsdale Avenue and Eighth Street. Over the years the school moved to various locations until a permanent building was constructed on 23rd Street in 1924.
In 1961, the school's name was changed to North Vancouver Senior Secondary School. North Vancouver High School served as the only high school in North Vancouver until the opening of Delbrook High School in 1957.
