Pictured here in 1955, we can see the first curling sessions at the new Capilano Winter Club. Formed in 1952, it was the first family winter club in BC.

The early focus of the club was skating and curling, with the ice rink and clubhouse completed in 1955. It would go on to serve the community for 25 years, eventually adding tennis courts and a full-sized pool complex.

The Capilano Winter Club would amalgamate with the North Shore Winter Club in 1977 after being purchased for $2 million.
