NORTH Vancouver's Margaret Benson has been named the Coast Mental Health 2012 Courage To Come Back Award recipient in the medical category.
According to a written statement, the awards celebrate people who have inspired others as they have courageously battled back from illness, adversity or injury.
Following a diagnosis with cystic fibrosis at age 14, Benson is a double-lung transplant recipient and multi-medal-winning athlete, marathoner, dragon boater, public speaker, transplant advocate and teacher. She will receive her award at a gala May 17.
