A North Vancouver marina has been awarded certification for upholding high environmental standards from a B.C.-based conservation group.
Lions Gate Marina recently achieved eco-certification by the Georgia Strait Alliance’s Clean Marine BC program, joining 29 other marinas and boatyards across the province, according to a news release from the alliance.
Lions Gate Marina was recognized for installing more efficient lighting, erecting nesting boxes to support the recovery of a species of endangered birds, improving its oil recycling facilities and waste recycling programs, and more, according to the release.
The voluntary environmental recognition program aims to help boating facilities reduce the environmental impact that recreational boating could have on the Strait of Georgia.
“It is our responsibility to uphold the highest standards and safeguard our environment as boating increases in B.C.,” stated Jordan Gile, operations manager at Lions Gate Marina, in the release.
