Community newspapers serve to inform their readers and, on occasion, inspire people to create extremely charming costumes.
In December 2018 North Vancouver RCMP were investigating the Lynnmour neighbourhood after reports that someone had been illegally cutting down trees in a wooded area next to Inter River Park.
While that case is now all wrapped up, the resulting North Shore News story seems to have inspired at least one police officer.
In our original story, we photographed Sgt. Doug Trousdell as he inspected the stump of a tree near Inter River Park in the early stages of the investigation. The image, which shows Trousdell as he looks thoughtfully at the remains of a cut tree, seems to have inspired him and his son’s 2020 Halloween costume.
In a tweet from the North Vancouver RCMP, it shows Trousdell and his son recreating the image, replete with police uniform and thoughtful expression, though it appears as if his son is posing as a tree that hasn’t been hindered by environmental vandalism.
