If you’re looking for something to do close to home this weekend, you might want to check out the new Cypress Pop-up Village.
Located just minutes away from Mulgrave Park in West Vancouver, the Cypress Pop-Up Village has been transformed into a venue for the Harmony Arts Festival. British Pacific Properties is inviting community members to enjoy a large grass field, boardwalk and panoramic views, along with local art, delights, activities and shows.
Over the weekend, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Boatshed from Ambleside beach will be set up at the Pop-Up, serving a selection of free ice cream from Uno Gelato, while quantities last.
While you enjoy your free gelato you can also learn about Indigenous carving techniques or take a look at a historic tractor that’s been restored to its former glory.
On Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., visitors can watch accomplished Indigenous carver Aaron Nelson-Moody, a.k.a. “Splash” from the Squamish Nation, as he carves a piece commissioned by British Pacific Properties. Splash’s works have been featured at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics.
Visitors can also see the John Deere 'Crawler' Tractor that once belonged to Fred Burfield in the late 1940s, which was coined the "workhorse" of Hollyburn Mountain. After a lengthy restoration project, it has now made its way back home.
Those who’d prefer an evening event can book a ticket to wine and dine at the Pop-Up, too. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday night there will be a barbecue meal catered by The Boatshed along with a comedy show, with a lineup of comedians from Vancouver's Blind Tiger Comedy offering a chance to appreciate a few laughs with friends.
The Pop-Up Village is located at 3757 Cypress Bowl Rd. Free parking and washrooms are available.
