The historic building once had a different purpose.

The Ironworks building, located at 235 Alexander Street, is a popular filming location for movies and TV shows.

Vancouver is home to many movie landmarks.

The city has attracted film sets for years, but there are several spots that are more popular filming locations than others, such as an iconic motel, a beloved amusement park, and a historic Spanish mansion

Vancouver's Gastown neighbourhood is another popular area for filming, however one site in particular sees a lot of action.

The Ironworks building, located at 235 Alexander Street, is a unique multi-purpose facility. It serves as a studio for film, television, and photography, and as a performance and event venue.

However, the historic building once had a different purpose.

Built in 1923, the facility manufactured, supplied, and serviced engine room and deck machinery for the shipping industry. The site belonged to the Burrard Ironworks company which was originally located across the street at 220 Alexander Street since 1912.

The historic warehouse is situated east of Gastown near Vancouver's original intersection.

Though it now features large, open spaces, fir beams and columns, wood-plank floors, and 16-foot ceilings, there are remains of old ironworks left behind.
