Travellers taking flights in and out of Vancouver have a new option to check on the conditions at the airport in one quick snapshot.

Travellers visiting Vancouver International Airport (YVR) have a new option to check on the conditions at the airport in one quick "snapshot."

YVR's operational snapshot provides a quick overview of how long wait times are for Vancouver flights at various security checkpoints, as well as current passenger statistics and parkade capacity.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is responsible for security screening across all airports in Canada and the wait times are estimates and subject to change.

Travellers can also use the Passenger Journey Tool to get through the airport in a breeze with step-by-step instructions. The online tool offers guidance prior to their arrival at the airport until the time they get on the plane

Air passengers who plan to travel to the U.S. from Canada can also submit their passport and customs declaration information through a free, secure app on their smartphone before they leave for a trip.

Travellers can also save time by using the "Advance CBSA Declaration" optional feature in ArriveCAN.

YVR's peak times by sector for check-in and security screening include the following:

  • 6 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 8 – 10 p.m. (Domestic)
  • 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (International)
  • 6 – 8 a.m. & 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (U.S.)
