For the second year in a row, Vancouverites will not be able to enjoy one of Vancouver’s most popular Halloween events due to a different risk to public health.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation will not be hosting the Stanley Park Ghost Train this year the board stated in a recent email to Vancouver Is Awesome.
“Given this event takes place in the evening, and Stanley Park is temporarily closed during these hours in response to coyote activity, staff made the decision to cancel in the interest of public safety,” the statement reads.
On the other hand, park staff are refocusing their efforts in the planning process for bringing back the Bright Nights Christmas-themed train event this winter.
Last year the Bright Nights event was also cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but train lovers could still enjoy the spectacle from home via a nearly eight-minute-long YouTube video posted which captured all the fantastical light displays in the forest.
