Warning: This contains spoilers from the first episode of HBO's And Just Like That
And just like that, Peloton got in one hell of clap back to the shocking ending of the debut episode of HBO's hotly-anticipated Sex and the City sequel - and they got Ryan Reynolds to do the voiceover.
To catch you up: When we catch up with Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte in their post-SATC lives, we learn they live in a post-COVID utopia where Samantha has moved abroad to avoid them all, and Mr. Big and Carrie play house with a classic rock soundtrack.
And just when you might be willing to forget that Mr. Big (played by Chris Noth) has been at times not the swellest of guys to Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) he ends up having a massive fatal heart attack home alone after his 1,000th spin on his beloved Peloton.
To say viewers - who managed not to land on any social media spoilers before premiere night - were shocked is the understatement of 2021.
The episode ends with Carrie's new signature sign-off putting the nail in the proverbial coffin: "And just like that...Big died."
Initially, Peloton issued a statement after the show aired, reminding everyone that Mr. Big lived a big life that included "cocktails, cigars, and big steaks," adding Carrie's big love "was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in Season 6."
It took them a few more days to really make a statement, and it's a genius one at that.
It's a PSA-meets-ad starring not only Noth himself but also Jess King, a real-life Peloton instructor who played Mr. Big's final instructor, Allegra, on And Just Like That.
The two share a moment by a roaring fireplace, discussing how life's too short not to take another ride...on a Peloton.
Instead of Carrie's voiceover, it's Vancouver's own Ryan Reynolds who delivers all the medical-health speak about using a Peloton bike.
Reynolds - who cheekily tweeted out the video Sunday with the preface "Unspoiler alert" was a key choice. The Deadpool actor famously turned around a spoof of the "Peloton wife" ad in short order back in 2019 - not long before the pandemic had everyone and their ageing husbands buying the exercise bikes.
"And just like that...he's alive," tweeted Peloton.
Well played, everyone.
