Report of person with weapon nets police presence, arrest in North Vancouver

North Vancouver RCMP have arrested one man after a report of a person with a weapon resulted in a heavy police presence in the 1500 block of Dempsey Road Thursday afternoon.

A call from a member of the public about a person with a weapon came in shortly before 2:30 p.m., said Const. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP.

Police did not release any information about the weapon reported.

The man taken into custody is believed to be a resident of that block.

Sahak said police blocked off the 1500 block of Dempsey Road for an hour and a half but that traffic in the area is now returning to normal.

The incident did not involve any threats to the public he said, adding the police investigation is still in its early stages.
