Vancouver can look forward to a couple of days with some sunshine, but aside from that, it's a fairly dull forecast for the week ahead.
Environment Canada meteorologist Dave Wray tells V.I.A. that some weak systems headed to the region will bring showers and rain to the city, but first Monday, Jan. 6, and Tuesday, Jan. 7, should be relatively nice.
"We're looking at a weak ridge of high pressure for Monday and Tuesday," he says.
That means there may be some fog in the mornings, but it should clear away, and both days will be relatively sunny with high temperatures around 6 or 7 C.
Monday night, he notes, will get cool, with some areas dropping to freezing temperatures.
"Weak systems will be rolling through for the remainder of the week," Wray says.
That'll bring showers day and night, but nothing heavy. Thursday night will likely be the rainiest period, but "nothing noteworthy" compared to the usual winter weather Vancouver experiences, he adds.
"It's fairly benign weather, really," he explains.
Temperatures will remain above average, but not too warm, with highs up to 8 or 9 C throughout the week.
"It's a pretty boring forecast," Wray concludes.
Snow and winter storms don't appear to be lurking on the horizon, either, he adds.
"Looking out into the future, we're not really seeing that big a chance of snow," he tells V.I.A. "That's a bit surprising given we're in mid-January."
However, no one should be removing winter tires yet.
"We still have a good amount of winter to go," Wray notes.
