A high-risk sex offender who was wanted Canada-wide after failing to return to his halfway house in Vancouver is back in custody.
On Saturday, police indicated Kenneth Nolan Kirton, 56, who is a declared dangerous offender and is considered a high risk to sexually offend, had not returned to his East Vancouver halfway house as expected.
He signed out on Friday (April 28) just after 4 p.m. and was reported absent on April 29, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
Late Sunday evening, the VPD reported Kirton was arrested just before 11 p.m near China Creek Park, in East Vancouver, after officers responded to reports of a man acting erratically in the area.
Kirton was subsequently returned to jail.
