The man charged for allegedly stabbing a man in a Vancouver Tim Hortons in January will plead guilty, a B.C. Supreme Court judge heard June 7.
David Richard Morin, 27, is charged with aggravated assault.
The accused remains in custody at North Fraser Pretrial Centre.
The incident happened around 6:20 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Tim Hortons at the Harbour Centre when a Mexican tourist entered the coffee shop.
As the tourist put on his jacket, another man repeatedly stabbed him.
Police called it a random attack.
Justice Kathleen Ker heard Morin's lawyer is scheduling a guilty plea in the case.
On Jan. 24, the Vancouver Police Department released security camera footage of the attack, hoping the public would recognize the man.
Sgt. Steve Addison, who called the incident troubling, said people soon came forward to help police identify a suspect.
The Emergency Response Team arrested Morin near Granville and Helmcken streets on Jan. 25.
The case is now set over until Sept. 6 as resolution discussions continue.
Ker asked Morin if he was in agreement and happy with how his lawyer is handling the case.
"I like how he's dealing with things," Morin said.
