A third Canada Post employee working at the Harbour Avenue delivery centre has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Crown corporation.
The facility was temporarily closed on Jan. 27 after an employee tested positive the previous day. Canada Post had the depot cleaned and reopened it the following day. A second staffer tested positive on Jan. 28.
On Sunday, the Crown corporation learned of one other staff member testing positive.
“While at work, the employee followed our physical distancing measures and wore personal protective equipment. There was no impact on our operations,” a statement from Canada Post read. “As with the other cases shared recently, we continue to work with Vancouver Coastal Health, follow their direction and advice, support their contact tracing efforts and ensure the appropriate sanitization work has been conducted within the facility.”
The risk of infection to the mail’s recipients is low, Canada Post says, as World Health Organization and Public Health Agency of Canada have both said spread of the coronavirus from products or packaging is rare.
