U-Haul truck hits pole, leaving thousands without power in View Royal, Colwood and Langford

The driver of a U-Haul rental truck crashed into a utility pole Tuesday afternoon in View Royal, leaving 2,905 B.C. Hydro customers without power.

West Shore RCMP and View Royal Fire Department were on the scene of the crash on the Island Highway and Burnett Road near the Fort Victoria RV Park as crews worked to restore power. Police warned traffic was delayed due to the damaged pole and low-hanging wires.

B.C. Hydro reported 2,905 customers lost power at 1:20 p.m. in View Royal, Colwood and Langford.
