A man accused in a pair of hammer attacks in 2014 is now facing a charge of public masturbation.

Tyrone Wayne Machiskinic was charged with the offence in December relating to an incident in Vancouver.

He also faces a charge of failing to comply with a release order that he not be near 333 Abbott St. That’s the address of Nesters Market on the edge of the Downtown Eastside.

Machiskinic was charged in November 2014 with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in connection with two separate hammer attacks.

In one case, a 67-year-old Vancouver man walking on the Seawall near Quebec Street at Terminal Avenue was knocked to the ground after being struck on the head with a hammer and then struck again. The victim was hospitalized with head lacerations and a broken arm.

Not long after, a 49-year-old man was attacked at Main and East Hastings Street and rendered unconscious.
