Final results from British Columbia’s 41st general election won’t be known until after North Shore News deadline on Tuesday.
But North Shore voters clearly had an appetite to be heard in the run-up to election day.
The North Shore’s four ridings had an average voter turnout of 20.9 per cent in the six days of advanced voting.
Early voter turnout peaked in North Vancouver-Lonsdale, where 23 per cent of people had already cast their ballots by the time regular polls opened.
Across B.C., 614,389 voters took advantage of advanced voting – about 19.4 per cent. That’s more than 60 per cent higher than advanced turnout in the 2013 general election, although
Elections B.C. added two more days of advanced voting in 2017.
North Vancouver-Seymour had the second highest showing on the North Shore with 20.7 per cent.
West Vancouver-Capilano and West Vancouver-Sea to Sky both came in slightly above the provincial average with 20.1 per cent and 19.7 per cent, respectively.
Esquimalt-Metchosin, a traditionally NDP-held riding on Vancouver Island, had the highest advanced voter turnout with 29.29 per cent.
