THE NATURAL HEALING AND ACUPUNCTURE CENTRE

While Feng Li has long championed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a remedy for myriad ailments like skin conditions, allergies, asthma, migraines and arthritis, her recent focus has shifted to the potential relief TCM can also provide for the all-too-common ailments of the middleaged.

That's simply -and quite honestly - because, at 48, Li is also beginning to experience these same issues herself. "I have a new understanding of conditions like menopause and mood swings, and sleep problems and emotional conditions," says Li, a registered member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of B.C. "I understand it because I'm also middle-aged now. Now I can truly relate."

For the past year, Li has been a warm, friendly and familiar face to both new and longtime patients at the Natural Healing and Acupuncture Centre at Park and Tilford Shopping Centre.

Li took over the centre - a North Vancouver staple for more than two decades - last year, more than 17 years after opening Feng Li Acupuncture and Natural Healing in White Rock. She currently splits her time between both locations. The reason why both locations are as successful as they are is likely due to Li's unwavering dedication to her clients, whatever their condition.

It's also a family tradition. It was Feng Li's grandfather, a dermatologist, and her grandmother, an obstetrician, who inspired Li to study the ancient art of TCM. "Caring about people, caring about my clients, is the most important thing to me," says Li, who immigrated to Canada in 1994 after graduating from Nanjing Medical University in her native China and practicing medicine there for six years.

WORDS OF WISDOM:

It is important to be good at what you do, but it is more important to be a good person first and foremost.
