North Shore residents largely satisfied with local snow clearing: poll

Only 17 per cent willing to pay more for better service

After an especially snowy few weeks of winter 2021/2022, most North Shore residents appear to be largely satisfied with local snow clearing efforts.

Just over a third see room for improvement while less than a fifth would willing to pay more for better service.

North Shore News polled 794 readers and asked the question: How satisfied are you with local snow clearing?

The poll ran from Jan. 6 to 13. Of the 794 votes, we can determine that 432 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Very satisfied. As long as the main roads are clear, I'm content. 44.44 % local, 43.20 % total    
Somewhat satisfied but there are too many gaps on local roads and sidewalks to make getting around easy. 38.43 % local, 38.41 % total    
Not satisfied. I would be willing to pay more to have roads and sidewalks cleared faster like the rest of Canada. 17.13 % local, 18.39 % total

Blessedly, the forecast for the coming week shows only light rain and temperatures well above the freezing point.

Results are based on an online study of adult North Shore News readers that are located in North Vancouver and West Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 3.47%, 19 times out of 20.
